Poster | 'The Little Street'

An unusual painting in Vermeer's oeuvre: a quiet street with houses and a few people. Right angles determine the balanced composition; the triangle of heaven adds tension. The old walls, coarse bricks and white plaster are almost tangible. Yet Vermeer has also allowed himself liberties, such as the oversized green shutters.
