The Krautstrunk was the forerunner of the Roemer. This hand-blown glass is inspired by glassware from the 17th century, seen in many Rijksmuseum still lifes. It is made in the same way as at the time. The studs on the stem of the glass were not just there for decoration: they provided more grip for the greasy hands of the diners.
